Fitted Kitchens – In this tutorial the aim is to share knowledge with readers and customers about kitchen cabinets. There are many types of kitchen cabinets and sometimes the whole business of choosing the right cabinet for the right space can be a bit overwhelming for some people. In this tutorial about fitted kitchens and kitchen cabinets in particular we are going to give you a detailed understanding of how to buy the right kitchen cabinets for your new fitted kitchen project. You might need to have a pencil and paper at the ready so that you can take down some notes relating to the different types of kitchen cabinets that are available to you for a new kitchen makeover. Our tutorial will start off with base kitchen cabinets and work through to your drawer sets and other less frequently used cabinets in a kitchen setting.
In Ireland and the UK most kitchen cabinets are made from Melamine Faced Chipboard also known as MFC. This is the industry standard material. Most kitchen Cabinets – be they flat pack kitchen cabinets or pre-assembled kitchen cabinets will be made from 18mm thick MFC. Some manufacturers of cabinets might use a 15mm MFC. And just for the record to state that IKEA Flat Pack Kitchen Cabinets are more for the mainland Europe Market and they do not have the same measurements as most manufacturers kitchen cabinets in Ireland and the United Kingdom, they tend to be a different size altogether. Another feature of some kitchen cabinets is that the back of the cabinet comes as a 3mm soft board back with a rail top and bottom for fixing to the wall or to fix on wall brackets. At Kitchens4u.ie all of our cabinets be they Flat Pack Kitchen Cabinets or Pre-Assembled Kitchen Cabinets come with 18mm thick solid backs. We will now take a look at the basic sets of kitchen cabinets that you can buy for your home. The first ones we will focus our attention on will be the Pre-Assembled Kitchen Cabinets Complete – These cabinets come with legs, Door(s) and Soft Closing Hinges. So lets take a look and see what type of kitchen cabinets are available.
When planning a new kitchen or kitchen makeover it is always advisable to start off with the cabinets for the floor area, these can consist of kitchen base units and kitchen tall units. Here we will concentrate on the kitchen base units. Kitchen base units can start off from 150mm wide to 1200mm wide. All kitchen base cabinets with a width between 150mm and 550mm will generally use just 1 door. Kitchen Base Units with a width of 600mm can use either 1 or 2 doors. Other exceptions in base kitchen cabinets would be the L-Shaped Corner Cabinets these also take two doors. Kitchen Units with a with of 700mm to 1200mm will take 2 doors on each cabinet size. The exception to the rule here is again corner base units – in particular what is known as Blind Corner Units. These blind corner units have a panel on one side and only one door on the other. Blind corner cabinets are normally 900mm wide to 1100mm wide, but they can be smaller or bigger.
Images below will show you what your base kitchen cabinets should look like. As stated before base kitchen cabinets that will use just one door range in width sizes from 150mm to 600mm, the 600mm base kitchen cabinet is an exception to the rule here as it can take one door that would be 595mm wide or it can take 2 doors that will be 295mm wide each. Always remember that all kitchen doors for your kitchen cabinets generally comes 2.5mm shorter than the cabinet all round. So if the cabinet height is 720mm then the door will be 715mm if the kitchen cabinet width is 600mm then the door will be 595mm wide. If you want to Buy Quality Pre-Assembled Kitchen Cabinets.
